This amide systemic pre-emergence selective herbicide is mainly absorbed by weed buds and young secondary roots. It inhibits protein synthesis in weeds and leads to their death. Only a small amount of butachlor can be absorbed by rice seedlings, which can rapidly and completely metabolize the active ingredient, giving rice strong tolerance to this product. It delivers excellent control against annual grass weeds, some broadleaf weeds and sedges in transplanted rice fields.
